What this note is
A follow-up to the 24 October NVDA desk note. That note listed three watching items into the next print. Two calendar days later, NVIDIA has not reported Q3 FY2027 earnings. This is a pre-print update: confirm, retire, or leave open each item. It is not a post-earnings read.
This is a community desk note. It is not investment advice. It is not a rating, a target, a position, or a size.
Setup
- Last reported: Q2 FY2027 results, 26 August 2026 (NVIDIA IR events).
- Next print: Q3 FY2027. Company language on the Q2 call scheduled the earnings call for 17 November 2026 (see Chronopin synthesis of the Q2 transcript; Wall Street Horizon lists the same date as confirmed after-market). NVIDIA's public IR events calendar as of 26 October still surfaces GTC Berlin (21 October) and older events — it does not yet list the November call as a separate calendar card, so treat 17 November as scheduled-from-guidance and re-check IR closer to the date.
- Tape since the 10/24 note (public Yahoo Finance history): close 21 Oct $221.97 (GTC Berlin session), 22 Oct $212.21, 23 Oct $210.96; 26 Oct session trading around the mid-$210s (NVDA historical prices). Path is choppy; it is not a post-print gap.
- GTC Berlin (21 Oct): public product / AI-factory messaging (including DSX POD deployment claims in coverage such as Yahoo Finance / trade press). Product news is not an earnings print. It does not settle the watching items that require order color or a paid implied move.
PE tables (trailing / forward vs NVDA's own 5y–10y history) are omitted here. Verified historical PE averages, ranges, and percentiles with citable sources were not assembled for this draft — flag for Francis before any valuation section ships.
Watching — status vs 10/24
The 10/24 note had three items. Status as of 26 October 2026:
1. Data-center commentary vs buyer capex language — still open
10/24 claim: Narrative without order color is noise; watch data-center commentary against capex language from the big buyers.
Update: Still pre-print. GTC Berlin added product narrative; it did not replace a 10-Q / earnings call with named demand or supply constraints. This week's buyer prints (MSFT, GOOGL, AMZN — see Earnings Desk #1) are the near-term place to gather capex color before NVDA's own call. The NVDA-specific item retires or confirms only on NVDA's Q3 language (or a clearly linked 8-K), not on a keynote.
What would prove us wrong (unchanged in spirit): A guide that walks back the ramp, or supply commentary that is specific — substrates, HBM, a named rack — rather than directional. Product demos without that color do not settle it.
2. Whether the implied move gets paid — still open
10/24 claim: A beat that lands inside the straddle is a different event from a beat that expands it.
Update: No print → no settlement. Options surface into mid-November will reprice; this note does not invent a current implied move or a straddle level. Revisit the day before the print with a cited vol surface, or leave the item qualitative.
What would prove us wrong: A print that is absorbed inside the prior implied move while the AI basket fails to confirm — or the opposite: an expansion that the basket refuses. Neither can be scored until after 17 November.
3. Next-day breadth in the AI complex — still open
10/24 claim: A single-name gap that does not pull the basket is usually faded by the systematic crowd.
Update: Still pre-print. Post-GTC tape moves are not a substitute for post-earnings breadth. Keep the rule: score breadth on the session after NVDA's print, not after a conference keynote.
What would prove us wrong: Same as 10/24 — a NVDA gap that the AI basket does not confirm, or a basket move that NVDA does not lead. Clock starts after the earnings release.
What would change the note
- Retire the whole pre-print watch only if NVIDIA reports early, withdraws the 17 November date, or posts material 8-K demand/supply language that answers items 1–3 without a formal call.
- Confirm item 1 early only if this week's hyperscaler prints (MSFT / GOOGL / AMZN) walk back AI capex on demand grounds in a way that clearly rewrites the NVDA setup — and even then, label it as buyer-side evidence, not as an NVDA print.
- Do not treat GTC Berlin, a single-day tape move, or secondary calendar estimates (some third parties still float 18 November) as a substitute for the company's scheduled results.
If a note cannot say what would make it wrong, it does not get published.
How it is filed
Filed next to the 10/24 note. Claim, evidence, and invalidation stay in the same place as the backtest reviews. We do not publish position sizes. We do not turn a blotter name into a recommendation.
Next action after 17 November (or whenever results post): a post-print note that marks each watching item confirmed or retired, with transcript citations once available. Until the earnings transcripts API is live, post-print sourcing stays public IR / webcast / filed exhibits.
